China has delivered a hydrogen fuel cell locomotive to Chile. They plan to use it to reduce carbon emissions in transporting copper ore to port.
This week PBS World side channel had a Global US program that featured the locomotive. The hydrogen will be produced by electrolysis from wind turbines in Brazil.
Program mentioned other hydrogen fuel cell locomotives are in trials in Germany but they are not performing as well as hoped.
