There is no “long game”. If we learned anything from the first 4 years, there is no plan, no script, no nothing: it’s just lurching along from day to day, reacting to whatever suits the toddler’s mood.
It can’t be a long game when everything is done by Executive order. That is the very definition of a short game. He has the Senate and the Congress and yet nothing can get passed, lol. Complete incompetence.
Yes, but, he also does not have a Tip O’Neil or Nancy Pelosi or even the hideous wife abandoning institution destroying scoundrel Gingrich, each of whom had the skills essential to anything getting done before. Our Constitutional Republic is broken and desperately needs fundamental reform, even if someone sane experienced and knowledgable were to somehow get into the White House.
How much of the chaos is Project 2025 inspired? It seems they have a lot of input. So there may be something of a plan, at least for certain of the adminstration’s actions.
Project 2025 definitely has a grand plan, but since they can’t get any of it through Congress, and it’s all being done through Executive Order, the next occupant of the oval office will be able to reverse most of it.
The EO are not stopping DEI. Instead money for things like research are being stopped by EO with DEI as the rationale. The rationale is not legal. So far one court if not more have rejected the rationale.
There will be many court rulings substantiating DEI’s place in American law and life.
There are objectives, to be sure, but a “plan”involves “how to get it done.” With the Reality Star choreographing everything for today’s rush of headlines, not much has, at least so far.
Making legislation and running a government requires patience and knowledge - of how to get things done. The most successful Presidents know to lean on their Congressional leaders and whips, but this one doesn’t know how to do that. That’s why so little got done in the first four years, and why nothing has been accomplished through Congress so far in this one. That could change, I acknowledge, but I don’t think the hopes are bright (for them.)
I asked Grok:
Is President Trump following the project 25 plan? Give a 300 word summary.
Grok says:
{ In summary, while Trump’s administration shows significant overlap with Project 2025’s goals—particularly in key appointments, immigration, and education policies—his tariff-centric approach and public disavowal indicate a selective or pragmatic adoption rather than a wholesale embrace. The plan’s influence is evident but not absolute, shaped by Trump’s broader political strategy.}
A month ago, a similar question resulted in " more or less, but more rapidly than the plan calls for."
