My almost 9-yr-old granddaughter got her ears pierced so I’d like to get her earrings for her birthday. Where can I get good-for-your-ears earrings? Do I need to go to a jewelry store or dept store for such a youngster? Can I get safe earrings at Target or Walmart? Obviously they won’t be like adult earrings–just small non-dangly things. Is it enough if the post is gold or silver?

They have super cute ones at Target, bought some for my granddaughter there.

What should I look for in posts? Gold? Silver? Non-reactive? Safe alloy? ???
You want to look for descriptions such as hypoallergenic/nickel free/medical grade. Not hard to find at all. I make jewelry and non reactive wires and earring backs and posts are very easy to come by and not much more expensive than the ordinary stuff that’d make my ears fester.
Etsy is a good place for fun and funky stuff too. My granddaughter is desperate to get hers done. Apparently when she’s 10 is the promise…only another 5 to go. I can’t wait.

Thx boss & vee. Since I have little aide time this week and no time for jewelry shopping in time to ship for her birthday, I ordered 3 pair of hypoallergenic earrings from Amazon (her first initial on rose gold, silver unicorns–a fave, and “jeweled” butterflies). Hope she likes them! They seem a good bet for a very feminine 9-yr-old (not like her not-so-pink-unicorn-loving Mom and Nana-).
