Elon Musk faces moment of truth in Europe as buyers turn their backs on Tesla

Elon Musk is now insisting that Telsa depart the EV market entirely.

We will happily shop elsewhere for EVs. As GM goes so goes the nation. @tamhas if you have any holdovers in your mind that are mixed with supply-side econ garbage flush them immediately. Those days are gone.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Secret Service said on Monday it was aware of a post by billionaire Elon Musk on the X social media platform musing about an absence of assassination attempts on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Elon Musk hates America.

Waste of capital.

Tesla is losing most of its clients.

https://insideevs.com/news/733956/tesla-sales-drop-in-silicon-valley/

Sales are dropping two quarters in a row. This will be three quarters.

Elon is trashing the company. He is only an angry divorcee.

Every market is purposely dumping Tesla.

Cmon now. The political agenda-driven posts using clickbait headlines out here on METAR are getting
 silly.
Anti-Trump lashing out is just one possible theory, but what fun would that be to ignore it?
If one were to actually read the source article, one would see some OTHER interesting data about this one month snapshot of BEV sales in Europe. To the point:

  • Overall BEV sales declined 5%
  • VW.ID4 sales declined 40 (forty)%. THAT feels like the beginning of an extinction level event. But the political bashing of VW is so ten years ago.
  • Tesla sales declined an average of 16.5% - but still are 116% more than the next largest competitor, and still just about as large as the next 3 competitors combined.

Hate Musk, love Musk, I absolutely don’t care but it shouldn’t matter. MSN, that bastion of objective journalism (cough), picks out one number out of one MONTH’s report that they can twist to feed the anti-Trump meme - and this spawns a 14 post pile-on?

Wow. Oh well.

If you do not care do not bother telling anyone else what should matter.

Inciting violence in a US general election is extremely illegal.

Musk was inspired to threaten a presidential candidate. His idea of a joke? He wants to inspire others.

Yup. Especially when VW is threatening to close some of its European factories while Tesla is expanding Giga-Berlin.

And while the western legacy automakers are rapidly becoming irrelevant in China, the world’s biggest car market, Tesla sales are now up year-to-year. Tesla is holding its own in China despite a fierce price war, a dated product line, and Osborne-ing from rumors of new Tesla models in 2025. https://www.investors.com/news/tesla-stock-buy-rating-china-sales-2024/

At the same time, it appears that Tesla’s US sales will be higher year-to-year in Q3 and Q4, due in large part to the successful launch of the most expensive version of the Cybertruck.

I am not following anything in this statement, so looking to see what you mean. What, and how, are Americans “turning to our economy for manufacturing with pride.”? I am an American and I have NO power to do anything with manufacturing. Also, the majority of all cars are parts from other countries. I believe most of them are also assembled elsewhere.

Where do you see pride in anything related to automobiles? These are now the lowest common denominator kind of thing. Designs are so bland and generic. Look at the color options for cars
grey, gray, off black, white, off white, white mixed with black. (A bit facetious, but there are like two/three autos each year with an interesting color.)

I am either not understanding what is being said, or I very much disagree.

See thread on GM EVs.

Supply side economics offshoring is over.

Demand side economic policies since 2022 have the US retooling.

This is an econ board. Your low opinion uninformmed is from another time.

Hey Leap - you’re crossing the wires too. Bringing Musk up ex post facto (get the pun?) putting b.s. out on X (and then deleting it) has everything to do with @tjscott0 's obviously sneaky agenda-driven political posts out here on a supposedly ECONOMIC board.

It’s yet another reason why intelligent, long time denizens of the Fool are going elsewhere. You guys are “messing” it up.

LOL And what agenda is that?
Perhaps I is a Russian/Chinese bot.

Be afraid very afraid!

I have noticed that long term denizens of this board intercst & Steve 203 continue to remain on the board.
And they have political content in some of their posts. Perhaps the rub is that my political content is “sneaky”. RFLOL

A trick I learned from watching 1950s alien invasion movies: to make the aliens sound alien, they speak correct English. I could only be a real USian, the way I express myself.

I license you for one use of “no matter what I do, I get yipped at”.

It is the economy stupid and she is better.

If the people who left were into supply-side economics you need to retract the word “intelligent”. Seriously you are confused if that is the case.

Today there is not one person in the US offering the public supply-side economics. Slavery yes but not economics.
