Estate Tax: Can a charity be the beneficiary of an IRA

So you realize the spectacular gains you’ve had in NVDIA, and don’t have to pay any taxes? Sounds like a perfect opportunity to sell high to me.

Why? You obviously already have way more than you’re ever going to spend, and enough to leave a very large amount to both your beneficiaries and charities, even after the taxes you and/or your estate are going to have to pay on the wealth that you’ve already accumulated. I’m not saying that you should just sell it all and put it into savings accounts, but at some point, isn’t what you have enough? You’re already spending a lot of time, effort and money to try to avoid some of your potential estate tax, and growing your assets is only going to increase your potential estate tax.

People note that Trumps DJT stock is up. On CNBC yesterday they were saying Trump wins maybe by a landslide and gets control of Congress. Market pros are now responding to the impact of that.

I own 30 to 35 stocks. They are posted on CAPS. Reasonably diversified. But heavy in tech stocks now. Very heavy in capital gains intended for stepped up basis. Relied on TOD accounts to avoid probate until reaching estate tax.

Holdings include Caterpillar, Sherwin Williams, railroads, Wabtech. Own all the magic seven except sold Tesla.

Aggressive investor in growth stocks with earnings reasonable PE, and momentum. Do up to four trades per month selling losers to buy winners based on % gain over the last 90 days. Works for me.

Also on CNBC yesterday was an article Nobel Prize-winning economists slam Trump agenda, endorse Harris saying that many economic Nobel laureates endorsed Harris because Trump’s policies were going to crash the economy, consistent with the Goldman Sachs and Wharton analyses. Doesn’t look to me like either of these articles are influencing market pros.

But, hey - keep living your dream that the estate tax will be repealed.

People buying DJT seem to be believers. Will they be winners? Seems almost like the toss of a coin. But gamblers enjoy such risks.

Clearly not a sure thing.

Hahahahaha Buyers of DJT have always been Trump believers. There’s no other reason to buy a stock that has a (current) market cap of $7B but has had only $4.1MM in revenue (not profit - just revenue) for the TTM and has downward trends in both revenue and visits to the site.

Unless you count heading for BK as a sure thing.
