I still think Disney should consider a halt to any new projects in FL and possibly a temporary shutdown of the park, during the slower back to school period for “cleaning and maintenance”. Let the Florida GOP remember what it is like with all those workers on furlough and no business in the surrounding area.
Plus they should hit the state, the Fl GOP individuals, and DeSantis with every possible lawsuit in the book. Slander, Freedom of Speech Violations, Breech of Contract, and anything else they can think of.
They need to make this move against Disney as expensive for the state as possible.

This is pretty much just what we talked about a little while back: the easy solution to protect the taxpayers from having to shoulder Disney’s debts is to keep the district in place, but not let Disney be in charge of it any more.
DeSantis’ suggestion that the state take control - rather than either of the counties - would put Disney in a really bad spot. Although obviously they would be better off controlling the district themselves, at least they’re the big fish in a small pond when it comes to Orange and Osceola County politics. They’ve got a lot of sway in local politics in central Florida. But if the state is in charge of their zoning and taxation, they could find themselves running into a lot more obstacles than if the counties were running the District.
De Santis alluded to one possible nasty twist - raising Disney’s tax rates in order to fund large increases in salaries for the firefighters - in his presser. He obviously sees political benefit in continuing to squeeze Disney going forward.
