I am giving FreeTaxUSA a try. The site told me I could upload a 1099-R form that I have from Vanguard. After upload, I found an error. Line 4 (federal income tax withheld) was blank when it should have shown what we had withheld. Line 5 (employee contributions) should have been blank, but it had the amount that should have been in line 4. It was easy to correct it online and all the other boxes were filled in correctly. But, it was not a good way to start out.

Thanks for sharing. Good thing you double-checked the 1099-R after upload. Auto-import is convenient, but clearly not foolproof. Always worth reviewing every line before filing.
