German government fails along with French

OK. Population of Canada is about 40 million. That’s roughly equal with California (39.3m). Worth noting that California also has 52 Representatives in the House, so if Canada gets added and then the House reapportioned I think we can look at maybe 40 “new” Reps from Canada.

Now I don’t know the political leanings of all the Canadian provinces, towns, townships and whatnot, but I’m gonna guess it would translate to about 30 Blue and 10 Red districts up there. Which would, needless to say, change the composition of the House dramatically.

It wouldn’t do much for the Senate, but then Canada is over 3,800,000 square miles. This contrasts with Alaska at something over 850,000 and Texas at 289,000. So Canada would be “the largest state” by far, and if you split it into 4 “Alaskas”, it would still be the largest four states, have 8 Senators, and change the composition of the Senate, too.

It also has, by law, two official languages (English and French), so to get by you’d need to have 3 languages on everything here in the States (add Spanglish) which would be a fright for packaging companies.

I don’t think TFG has thought this through, but I really try not to offer up such self-obvious statements, so I’ll quit here.
