$GM Cruise Robotaxis Paralyzed At Intersection

Not a good look at that intersection:

Last Driver License Holder headline: Driverless Robotaxi Fleet Paralyzed for Hours in San Francisco

Apparently, the first operational stop of a driverless robot taxi fleet occurred. In San Francisco, at least a dozen autonomous Chevrolet Bolts from GM Cruise Automation were spotted blocking the intersection at Gough Street and Fulton Street for a couple of hours, according to reddit user seansinha.

As can be seen in the pictures, the vehicles are all on the road without a driver. Cruise is allowed to operate driverless as a robot cab in the city area between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. and also charge fare. Here, there seems to have been a defect that affected all the vehicles. The cars blocked the intersection and the street and had to be manually driven to the depot by Cruise employees.

The exact reasons are not known, but the Internet has already put forward some humorous speculations. The vehicles would have “unionized”, they would “emigrate”, they would gather together to “seize the reigns” and some asked where “John Connor is now that we really need him”…
