100% contract coverage for remainder of 2026, and 90% coverage for 2027. That newbuild order event is huge for GSL. A $1.3B capital expense is quite large for a company of GSL’s valuation. The Balance Sheet shows a total Assets amount of ~$3B, which includes advances of $129M. Backing the latter out, and the order amounts to over 45% of total assets. That said, the current vessels are probably somewhat undervalued, so it is likely a smaller percentage. Still, GSL ordering a significant # of new vessels at one time represent a big shift for the company. Their current cash position plus good contract coverage on their existing fleet for the next few years, should make things manageable the next few quarters. Sale of additional older vessels is one option. If the market is at a good place in a couple of years, sale of some of the newbuilds is also an option.
