I have had an Experian account for a long time. Got my SS card in 1956. A birth certificate says someone with my name was born on my birthdate.
I want to temporarily unfreeze my Experian account. I can’t log in with my user name and password, so I try Plan B which is provide the last 4 of my SSN and my birthdate. Type those in and Experian says it has no matching record.
Trans Union & Equifax say all the information is valid.
How does one get around the computers and get some hopefully human help with the Experian systems?
Good Luck. It’s close to impossible to try and get a phone number. Have you tried annualcreditreport.com and obtained your free credit report from Experian? That may help to try and provide a way to contact Experian.
If you previously had setup a freeze, there’s no way to reset password where they send a code to email on file?
Hi GW
here’s what I found on the ‘contact us’ section of my Experian account:
General questions

… if that doesn’t work, perhaps file a fraud alert with your local Police?
Maybe your bank VP of Credit Worthiness might have a ‘back door’ contact?
Perhaps the ‘contact us’ part of Transunion or Eqifax might be able to help?
It turns out tlucio’s suggestion of getting the free annual credit report provided the key. Within the free annual report system one can ask for 1, 2 or all 3 reports. I asked only for Experian. When I did ask, I got a notice that the account was frozen - should have been. But I could also ask for a One Time Link. With that root Experian sent a text the the phone number of record. That let me get in an reset my password and login.
