It’s quite a story. Macro economics, stocks, commodities, and futures trading, philanthropy, a JC who died in 2001, and more. And of course The American Dream.

It is still illegal to trade futures in onions.

{ 1955, two onion traders, Sam Siegel and Vincent Kosuga, cornered the onion futures market on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The resulting regulatory actions led to the passing of the act on August 28, 1958. As of January 2024, it remains in effect.[1] }



There is no such thing as too much onion, at least in my kitchen.
