Hope, economics, and youth

I mentor very (very very) poor brilliant kids from the Mexican campo (impoverished countryside), and one of them was in a very deeply dark place (crime and murder very close to him done by people close to him) a month ago (hey Christmas does that people) and I do not remember what I said to him but seems itI worked.

He found a tiny short vid and sent it to me, saying he looks at it multiple times every day to remind himself of what I had said that had so he terriozada y porque (had terrified him and why) about that conversation, and that he now knows it is still terrifying but true!,and after going back to it for the Nth time today myself, and remembering a very dark period in my own life, I thought some of you might find it illuminating, and useful to share.

We humans are NOT isolated selves, but our “self” encompasses all.

While thinking about brilliant young people, I came across this, and it is the perfect book end to the “Doing Miracles” video, a video pointing out the mad brilliance of the very young Issac Newton.

Mentoring for this bunch (and fundraising, but that is a lesser art)

has helped me see how much waste there is in our advanced modern societies. All these forgotten, ground into the dirt, brilliant young people all around me, seeking a ladder up and encountering snakes down on all sides.
