Inflation and money illusion

Right.

Around that time I remember reading an article saying how unusual is was that such a small school like WPI had 4 grads who were Fortune 500 CEOs

Paul Allaire was CEO of Xerox and another Electrical Engineering grad who was fined $22 million for an SEC violation (cooking the books for earnings manipulation)

Robert Stemple (credited as inventor of the catalytic converter for automobiles) was GM’s CEO and lasted about 18 months (he replaced CEO Roger Smith, the subject of Michael Moore’s film “Roger & Me”. Stemple was apparently know for the “pre-meeting” to make all the decisions before going into the “big meeting”. {{ LOL }}

Can’t remember who the 4th one was, but no doubt he was canned for some form of skullduggery, too.

Thanks for the response.

If you should ever decide to run for public office, I don’t think I’ll be voting for you. I’m enjoying my retirement.

Don’t I need a $60 membership to get a $1.50 hotdog?

Depends on the location. Some Costcos don’t require a membership to access the food court.

Zathrus is the greatest SciFi character of all time. Thanks for the little touch from the past, uhm, the future, uhm, should not say, zzhhum cannot say… what?

I’m enjoying my retirement too. If the “crisis” came to pass, I will be thankful that I had some years of enjoyable retirement, and got some money out of SS, before TPTB decided to have the Proles pay for all those JC tax cuts.

I’m willing to let Idaho and Montana go. Throw in North and South Dakota if you act before midnight tonight!

Not any more. Costco announced a change in policy about a month ago. There are some where the food court is outside and it will take time to figure out how to restrict them, but it’s coming.
Costco is cracking down on its food court. You now need to show your membership card to eat there. - CBS News.

It is either that or raise the price of the hotdog with a soda.

But what has been your ROI on those invested assets over that time? More importantly, has your income risen faster than inflation? (are you make more, or less, than 5X your 1977 salary)?

Please comprehend the problem presented.

The original post stated the US $1T debt had to be paid off immediately. Any solution that does NOT pay it off is not a solution to the proposed problem.

Heh. Pretty much. Costco makes about 70% of its operational profit from memberships and once they sell a membership they have about a 90% renewal rate. They don’t care if they lose a free loaders at the food court if they can sell more memberships.

I just rewatched the DVD box sets of all 5 seasons over the winter. I am increasingly concerned about the quality of Warner DVDs. I had already replaced two disks in the season one set, and another had two corrupted episodes on this viewing. Two or three of the fifth season disks are now corrupted as well, after playing perfectly a few years ago.

Trivia bit, everyone in that scene is now dead. Michael O’Hare (Sinclair) died of a heart attack at 61 or 62. Mira Furlan, who played Delenn died of complications of West Nile, and Tim Choate, who played Zathrus, died in a motorcycle crash.

Jerry Doyle died of complications of alcoholism. Jeff Conaway died of complications from a long history of drug abuse. Richard Biggs died of a burst aorta. Stephen Furst died of complications of diabetes. Andreas Katsulas died of complications from a long history of smoking.

Vir had his moments too…and, as we know, he got his wish.
