It starts with Fireworks

The reports are emerging this year July 4th may be very muted, due to skyrocketing firework costs, thanks to tariffs. 90% of fireworks are imported and 95% of the imports are coming from China!!!

Many small firework stores across the country are folding because of the tariffs. There are alternate suppliers like India. But the supply chain is missing. And some speciality fireworks China is the cheapest supplier.

So it starts with fireworks, but eventually more and more small and medium business will be mortally damaged from the tariffs. By the time the administration has deals in place many of them would be out of business.

It would be a shame in the end, the tariffs merely resulted in more corn and soybean selling and the price is 100’s of thousands of small businesses folding.

That would be a shame.

I saw that posted on FB yesterday. There was a considerable portion of respondents that said words to the effect “good. every dog in the US says “thanks””

One of the weather people on channel 7 here in Detroit lost an eye fooling around with fireworks, some years ago.

For decades, here in Michigan, the rule on fireworks was “if it makes a sound, or leaves the ground, it’s illegal”. I grew up with sparklers and snakes.

Those carbide cannons might see rebirth. They are still made in USA. Mostly cast iron. Abt $100 for a good one. Bang is loud and inexpensive. Enjoy!! And usually not considered fireworks under fireworks bans.

M80’s are the best. We used to play with them as kids but then somebody had to go and ban them.

Man, that’s great. I’m all for it. The boss and I usually hit the sack around 10:00 pm and invariably at Midnight on July 4th, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve it sounds like WW II under our bedroom window.

Mexico is insane for fireworks, perhaps tied by parts of China and SE Asia.

I HATE the super loud firecrackers, but love the visual displays, some of them at the edge of high art.

My poor golden retriever Gandhi hides, cries, and shivers.
