I don’t know if he was using fundamentals or was a technician, but since he was a renowned math guy, I assume it was the latter. At age 40 he quit academia and jumped into investing, started Renaissance Technologies and achieved unreal returns. His Medallion fund had great results. There is a biography, “The Man Who Solved The Market.”
