No, I’ve said repeatedly there are issues unique to the US that universal healthcare won’t solve in terms of cost but may simply shift. You mentioned in a prior post your Father’s comments that med school is far more expensive in the US and Dr’s are paid much better. How does universal care solve this problem? How do you address that cost of insurance because medical malpractice litigation is so much more costly. Are you going to end patient’s ability to sue under universal care?
Acute care and specialty care in the US is are far better but long term outcomes are worse. Is that a function of lifestyle, eating and exercise habits here vs other nations? Could it be that is the long term determinant of life expectancy and cost is not cause but just correlation?
We’ve not tried letting the medical system function by free market rules. I don’t know what the result will be. I do know lasik surgery was incredibly expensive and now the cost is 1/10 and it has nothing to do with universal care.
Long term Inflation exists largely if not solely because of the fiscal irresponsibility of our govt and the printing of money.
There is a great danger in moving from low tax socialism to high tax socialism. It ignores the realities of the world today. Businesses and individuals can and will leave to find more friendly tax areas, which is what is happening in Europe right now.
Straight A’s and I think 95 percentile. Merit is getting replaced as the dominating factor. I know if I need medical care I want the best skilled person working on me. I have lots of family in the medical field both as providers and hospital administrators. I don’t need a lecture on care and costs.
