Long Term Capital Gains

As a LT AAPL investor/holder, this recent reminder from another venue caught my eye:

For long term investors of a certain age, such as myself, there is also the step-up in cost basis when the stock is inherited by others. Unless the law changes on this, the LT gains are avoided. This can be very significant.

I knew of it, before, but it’s always good to be reminded from time to time…

Yes, my heirs will certainly benefit from thais. Me not so much. This is how “generational wealth” is maintained. But there are, or have been, efforts in Congress to get this tax loophole abolished entirely or to at least increase the tax paid by those heirs.
