Russia is threatening to cancel the return ticket to Earth aboard its Soyuz spacecraft for an American astronaut at the International Space Station. Elon Musk may send a rescue flight to retrieve him.

That’s plain nasty. The ISS was always politically as well as literally above the problems on Earth.

Someone with lots of creativity needs to come up with a way for Vlad to save face. Likelihood of that course very poor.

It will be up to Vlad’s generals to step up to the plate and force Their Dear Leader to take a large bite of reality sandwich. He might not be Dear Leader much longer.

I read, somewhere along the line, in recent months, that the station is approaching end of service life anyway. Material I find on line now says 2030, then they will deorbit it.
