A wink is as good as a nod to a blind man.
It is not as if South Korea will stop selling arms to the west if the arms end up in larger numbers in Ukraine. SK is our resupply industry in larger part.

Yes South Korea would rather deal with NATO & US because they can pay and Ukraine cannot. Ukraine is basically bankrupt.
But it has gone nearly unnoticed how illogically, even hypocritically, the South Korean government answers requests for military aid to Ukraine. Western diplomats hinting at the contradiction are told that it is the government’s “position not to supply arms to countries engaged in conflict.” This means that Ukraine is disqualified as a receiver of weapons made in Korea precisely by actually being invaded. Other countries in central and eastern Europe, seeing themselves “only” threatened by Russia and not (yet) “engaged in war,” are warmly welcomed, in contrast, as customers of Korea’s arms industry.

As the ex Soviet equipment from Poland and others gets used up some of the refilled SK equipment ends up in Ukraine. The difference being Russia may work with NK to strike some sort of peace for a while. SK can not ignore NK.
The reason NK matters if SK and NK go at it, then China can go at Taiwan much more easily as we will be partially busy with NK.
The dance is not as dumb as some of the reporters. But we live in democracies anyone will have an opinion.
