Again, where did you see that downed lines caused some of the California fires?
I’m asking because I can’t find any information definitively attributing that as a cause.

From upthread:
The video shows power lines running through Eaton Canyon arcing in the high winds on Tuesday just after 6 p.m. Within minutes, it sparked a fire that exploded in size.
Cal Fire has a copy of the video, and while the person who owns it says they won’t release it while the investigation is ongoing, others in the area say they witnessed the same thing…
Brendan Thorn, who lives in a house that backs up to Eaton Canyon, says his power flickered around 6:10 p.m. And a few minutes later, a neighbor called to say there was a fire under the power lines…
He [Harry Kertenian] rushed to his property overlooking Eaton Canyon when his mother told him she saw the power lines sparking. “That area in a matter off minutes went from one acre and just spread,” he said.

My point is that we all understand basically how a power pole is designed. But I think the important point is that they have wooden poles for transmission lines. That is crazy. Those should have been replaced years ago. This goes to show that the Electric companies have not been keeping up with their maintenance and should be sued. That is just unacceptable.

I wonder which “electric company” services the Pacific Palisades area? And I wonder if they will be bankrupted like the other electric companies that were proximate causes (it’ll be litigated of course) of the fires?

I guess you haven’t been keeping up with the posts? It looks like there are two companies serving it but maybe neither of them caused it. It could have been kids. I am still waiting for a resolution.

One company is called SoCal Edison, that’s the one many are calling to be bankrupted. What the name of the other one?

They actually built the transmission lines from Hoover Dam to Los Angeles. They still do work at Hoover Dam.
The project stalled after environmental regulators said the department had damaged 183 small bushes known as Braunton’s milkvetch, an endangered species.
Interesting. It seems that Braunton’s milkvetch is adapted to germinate after some form of disturbance which breaks seed dormancy. “It typically appears following a chaparral fire or other form of mechanical disturbance”

This is an ephemeral perennial member of the pea family that reaches a height of 15 dm with dull lilac flowers blooming March-July (Munz 1974). It typ...
