MouseBits: A Delay

I apologize, but my research trip cruise report and thoughts on earnings will have to wait a little longer. Due to a family emergency, I am repacking after having just finished unpacking and will be heading out of town for a few days. I will try to connect as I have time and access.

Fuskie,

Due to a family emergency, I am repacking after having just finished unpacking and will be heading out of town for a few days.

I’m sorry about this disruption in your life. I pray that everyone is alright, and that the emergency soon comes to the best possible resolution and wish you safe travels.

Norm.

Thank you on all fronts. Everyone is alright, things did come to the best of possible resolutions, and the travel was safe and easy.

Catching up on 10 days of being away after 10 days of vacation, less easy.

Who also has about 20 hours of Star Wars Celebration video to catch up on, not to mention the third episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi after the ballgame…

Fuskie,

I’m glad!

Back when I worked full time (and often more than full time…), I discovered a certain pattern.

If one took one week off, the mail would simply accumulate and one would return to an overflowing in box of things requiring immediate attention.

If one took two weeks off, people would at least check the incoming mail to make sure that it could await one’s return, and take care of it if it couldn’t, so one returned to an overflowing in box – but most of what was in it would require action somewhat less immediately.

But if one took three weeks off, the immediate assumption would be that it probably could not await one’s return so people would immediately take care of it – and would be in the habit of doing so when one’s return became more imminent. Thus, the pressure would be a lot less.

So, the best strategy was always to take three weeks off at a whack.

Norm.
