My dad is a lifelong football fan. For years, he had season tickets to the Chicago Bears. After he moved from Chicago to Green Bay, he went so far as to figure out how to become the team physician for a certain Green Bay based professional football team (not the Packers). Unfortunately, that team folded after just a few years…
These days, he’s retired, but still active in the Green Bay community. In retirement, he is a partial owner of a cigar bar in Green Bay — a business that was grandfathered in when the state outlawed indoor smoking.
With the NFL draft getting ready to get started in Green Bay, business at the cigar bar is booming at the moment.
So right now, I can confidently say that my dad is absolutely living his best retirement. He gets to combine his love for the cigar bar with his love for football while networking with all sorts of NFL-related people and the media that they’re bringing with them.
While I know this is a huge bright spot for him, I hope the rest of his retirement will be at least as exciting.
