Naturally, soon after my, and inlaw's, purchase... New Rumors!

While we’ve heard about OLED iPads and MacBooks before, the OLED iMac is a new rumor—and an exciting one. Specifically, Omdia claims that Apple is working on two new models: a 32-inch and a 42-inch model. According to the report, the 32-inch model with an LED screen will appear later this year before being replaced by an OLED model in 2027. And a whopping 42-inch OLED model will debut in 2027.

A 42" iMac seems a bit absurd. You’d have to sit 10 feet away! But these are only rumors. First, Apple should concentrate on getting the Apple Silicon Mac Pro out the door.

I gave up, betting the price point would be beyond my justifiable reach, and as time marched on, my '12 MP was having glitches, apps no longer updating, it was time to move along… Mini Pro filled my bill… Kept my 32" Dell monitor…

I’d hate to think a company the size of Apple can’t manage to undertake two things at the same time. (Especially when it is 23% of m portfolio!)

It is a bit absurd. I have a 34" Dell monitor attached to my M1 MBP (both supplied by work – they give everyone the Dell monitor, Mac or PC). It is a very wide aspect ratio, not 16:9 by a long shot . The Apple would be the same. But yeah, that is a bit large…

I’d hate to think Apple can’t do more than one thing at a time too, but sometimes it sure feels that way! [ Full disclosure: my portfolio is even more AAPL heavy than yours! ]

Maybe to double as a “TV screen”? Live in a small flat/apartment and space is scarce.

Yeah, but then how would you comfortably use it as an iMac instead of TV with a screen 8-10 feet away? Besides, Apple doesn’t think that way. They want you to buy separate products for separate purposes, not “dual use” products.

We have DW’s 27" iMac in the living room, occasionally used it for trip slide shows, but over the years, addition of AppleTV 4K, I can link my Mac Mini directly into the Family Room 65: LG for to full big screen views of anything in my library, so no need to use the little 27"… Pretty handy, however for DW to use the 27" space for spreadsheets, videos, so I can see a 42" iMac as a replacement one day…

OTOH, DD’s FIL just added a big monitor, maybe 50" of so, wall mounted, for his PC setup, was using a TV, but it was needed elsewhere, so he had a chance to move on up, just depends on what we get used to…

My own setup is a 32" Dell monitor, pretty handy for my fiddling around… The 43" LG I’m using here, in my cave/office as my TV, I could stream to it if needed, but…

Once flat screens became affordable, available, no need for many limits… No more 150 pound CRTs!
