Is METAR “non-financial”?

Most likely, because it’s not under their paid subscription service.

Is this a financial board? A social board? Both?

Saul’s is staying open, so it gives one hope. However he moderates that board like Putin going to war.

like Putin going to war.

Thanks for a good laugh. LOL

If you saw the destruction of the NPI board you would agree that moderation is required.

This is an econ board which dovetails properly into finance. If you get a business degree you do not get to pick and choose as to no econ.

Apparently, METaR made the cut, as I don’t see the closing notice on this board. I do see the closing notice on the Quagmire and Et Cetera. “It is what it is”, Rat’s old board, has already closed.

I question the business decision. Their business is eyeballs seeing the ads. Close boards like Quagmire, reduces the number of page views. Of the individual company boards I monitor, Disney is the only one that still has significant traffic.

There are likely to be unintended consequences of closing the non-financial boards, including a ramp up in off topic posts on the financial boards which will drive people away from those too. How many times has someone simply linked a too political post they put up on Atheist Fools, cautioning people at the link here to keep the discussion and recs there?

In sales, it’s all about eyeballs, if not to see the ads, but to discover the pay to view boards. IMO this is not a good sign for TMF.

Or maybe monetizing the financial “wisdom of the crowds”. Don’t have the correct data over at “Gardening and Landscaping” Board.

Sure, but in real estate open houses typically don’t get you a buyer for that home…rather it tends to get the agent a current lookie-lou buyer they can represent on another purchase. The more eyeballs, the better the sales outcome. Plus most here are on both financial and non-financial boards. The more time you spend on the website, the closer your bonds become with others, some of whom may suggest the for pay boards and trigger others to check them out. It’s not as though they pay for content. If we go to another website for non-financial content, then eventually we are likely to move to their financial content and leave TMF behind. Multiple boards are a PITA to keep up with.
