Thanks for an excellent article.
As to distribution, seeds are often coated with agents to protect them from rot etc. Why not coat them with the bacteria too?

Depends on the cost to do it.
Sure. Plus a lot more. Such as are the bacteria still alive when the seed gets planted.
But worth trying.
Since the farmer is out applying the fertilizer anyway, it might be straightforward to add a bacteria cocktail to the mix. The concentration could be higher and more easily controlled.
