The state could soon be home to the only nuclear power plant in the country to have shuttered and then reopened after the federal officials this week finalized more than $2.8 billion in loans and grants to help restore and restart the Palisades Plant in southwest Michigan.
“Reopening Palisades will keep energy costs low, shore up domestic energy production, and secure Michigan’s competitiveness for future economic development,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a statement. “We will lead and build the future here in Michigan with the strongest clean energy labor standards in the nation, and tools to build more renewable energy faster.”
A “thought leader” complained, a couple days ago, that a new nuke hasn’t been built in the US in forty years. Maybe Southern Company should drop him an e-mail?

Why Microsoft made a deal to help restart Three Mile Island | MIT Technology Review.
Three Mile Island may not be far behind—Constellation says the reactor could be running again by 2028. (Interestingly, the facility will need to separately undergo a relicensing process in just a few years, as it’s currently only licensed to run through 2034
Diablo in California was supposed to be shuttered and is now putting in for another 20 year license. They have 2 nuclear plants on site and have sites set for 4 more.
One of the best performing stocks this year as well. I am wondering if it still has room to run. Up another ~4% today.
