OT: Fast Food Franchises

Noom has a weight in feature, groups, lessons, motivational stuff, and calorie counter. The common sense stuff gets reenforced. After done with program much of it is free to anyone.

Years ago we looked into investing in Chick-Fil-A. Privately held so would have to open a franchise location. Read several subsequent articles that they are very selective as to who they will “help” open a store. You almost have better odds winning the lottery. One article did mention the odds but can’t recall exactly but seemed to be thousands of applicants per 1 site. And very selective as to where they will open. They try to stack the odds in favor as best as possible for the new location. Nothing looks worse than a store closing down.

Yes, cheaper start up fee compared to other chains but also take a higher percentage of revenue. And they do expect you to be an involved owner, not some silent partner.

Big fan. And when we are on the road, we basically make our stops around CFA unless it is a Sunday.

To avoid returning home commute traffic, dinner yesterday (08/25) was @ In n’ Out. On the speed of service, locations do not live up to the name. However, folks eat there for the fresh nature of food prep (fresshly cut fries, not frozen) and the quirky variations (animal style, 2-by-4, etc). Used to be CA only, but store locations are now in neighboring states - I believe delivery-truck-within-a fixed-time limitation.

Also noticed in the last few years that CA-based Mexican FF franchises (El Pollo Loco, Del Taco) have also crossed into NV, UT. Del Taco was acquired by Jack-in-the-Box, so expansion in other states is probably very likely.
