According to Strava I just completed a 12.75 mile, 2781 ft elevation mountain hike on a rocky trail in 3 hours and 52 minutes. And if I fell down I would have gotten back up, checked myself for injuries and fallen eyeglasses, and finished my hike. But I would have used my hands. I have not been able to stand up without using my hands for decades. Don’t know why, nor do I know how that affects my potential longevity.

I ran across the spiral down, spiral up technique, a couple years ago. I now do this without thinking about it.
For me, it’s about getting my center of balance correct.
I agree with @WendyBG that doing a couple get up, get down reps per day, will help in the long term.
