The arrival of penicillin and then more powerful antibiotics made a big difference. Secondary infections could be treated.

The drop in the death rate occurred before then.

What’s going on with Canada and measles???

That came up the last time we discussed measles. (We do tend to rechew our food here on METAR.) IIRC, it had to do with Mennonites (also in west Texas).
