OT: Reminds me of Crypto!

This is one of Wikipedia’s features in the “On This Day” section.

I never really knew about Blackbeard until reading the detailed biography of one of the most famous pirates here in North America.

Looking at the fun that he had during his tenure, and how he achieved his success, reminds me of today’s Crypto hype and hysteria.

Unfortunately, the Commonwealth doesn’t dispatch them like they did in the old days - hanged - or worse!

After the demise of SBF, it is more like the Zoombie Apocalypse.

You know they will be back.

Part of pirate lore that was often dismissed/submerged and that SBF and recent others show with strong echoes is sexual acting out. Turns out that a lot of people who turn to piracy and its close cousin in crazy banking are sexually oppressed or nuts. That lots of pirates were, well, queir (the censor is really censorious!) is the least crazed part of it. What a surprise!? And no surprise that recent large scale underage sexual traffickers almost always had a big banking connection.

Or no nuts?

The Captain

Hmmm. Did not find one in the research accounts I read, but that would “fit in somewhere” I suspect. :ghost:
