Palestinian authorities say at least 500 people were killed in an Israeli raid on a hospital in central Gaza

The IDF easily could have had a misfire as well.

In this case the accidental bombing was Islamic Jihad’s rocket.

This is a tragedy. The problem the western republics have is no rooting out of honesty in the response. No accountability. It is not just a propaganda war. It is a matter of making lives matter and dictators fail every time to do that. The entire war is a proxy of US versus Russian goals. The Greater Syrian goal or forces are the Russian proxies. Not that Russia cares about life. Putin does not care about his what 200k dead soldiers.

Of course they do…/sarcasm
The question is whether we believe them. Or anyone reporting war incidents.
The first casualty of war is truth.

I always have a winning argument when disagreeing with anyone here and you like the other guy’s post.

Your only option is to believe no one! And never know what is going on. I choose to believe reporting from the major sources as they will be making corrections if they get something wrong. The other side seems to think just repeating the same thing over and over is what will convince you.
But I also don’t make any snap judgements on the initial news and wait to see real reporting.

The first casualty of war is truth.

Maybe true in many cases, but the very first casualty of THIS war is a desperate search by some for moral equivalence, in a case where there can be absolutely none.

How can anyone justify/rationalize the intentional targeting of women and children (aka genocide?!)

Would a group that would do that… and brag about it… while continually using their own people has human shields, be above lying about a friendly fire incident?

Can you say “No”? (It’s an easy word)

‘that’ = target women, children, old people, schools, music festival, ie CIVILIANS in a spectacularly brutal way, … a ‘way’ which would put immense pressure on Israel to knee jerk RETALIATE in a way that would cause the ‘world’ to TURN AGAINST Israel …

and BRAG ABOUT IT!

A ‘friendly fire’… and some are calling it an ACCIDENT?
Why would I believe that ‘bombing a hospital and BLAMING ISRAEL’ is not ALSO part of the Hamas/IsJihad plan?

If Israel did not do the Knee Jerk Retaliation… and the world was not turning against Israel… what’s a good Islamic extremist to do?

Why would I believe anything other than that Hamas PLANNED to bomb that hospital! They loaded it with ‘explosives/ammo/bombs etc’ then a ‘wayward rocket’ was detonated, to try to ‘frame’ Israel.

Yeah, it’s speculation, but so is ‘it was an accident’.

It seems obvious to the most casual observer (me) that the Islamic extremists INTENTIONALLY are trying to cause the biggest, most violent response… toward what end?

Let’s not play into the Islamic extremist’s plans, eh?

In the fever pitch mood of IDF because some of their loved ones were killed, some IDF units could strike at the hospital because they were told that the hospital was a Hamas base.

It also bothers me that we have not been told the truth about the missile. IDF keeps changing their story. I heard an IDF general two days ago say that because of the size of the blast it seems to be an IDF missile inadvertently hitting the hospital. Hamas does not have the powerful missiles that IDF has been using on Gaza.

Information changes; more facts become available. Would you rather they never change their story and stick with the first thing out of their mouths? A rational person can change their mind as the facts change and more information becomes available; a cultist or bigot can’t do that!

Maybe no one knows the ‘truth’ at this moment in time. Why do we insist on knowing every detail of everything within nano-seconds of an event and then become surprised when stories change. The only thing that should be happening now is the assistance to those injured and let the professionals do their jobs!

How much damage, actually. The impact crater is tiny. Only a handful of cars had physical damage and a few more were involved in fire. A couple of windows were broken. Pretty good fire, but that seems more like fuel than explosive. Big skepticism about the number of dead, particularly since the 500 figure came out before they had any time to evaluate.

“Officially”, the US agreed with Israel that the attack on the Liberty was an accident. Afterward, Israel paid reparations to the families of the dead and injured. The surviving crewmen said no way was it an accident, because Israeli reconnaissance aircraft had overflown the ship, at masthead height, in daylight, before the attack. How could they mistake a US flagged Navy freigher (equipped for electronic intel gathering), for an Egyptian warship?

Ralph, the video clearly shows a misfiring of the rocket. It was not the plan.

The problem is leaders do need to be honest. I do not care which side it is. The Muslim world’s leaders in unison would not stop to see what actually happened. That is regrettable. But Hamas and Islamic Jihad decided to lie outright to all of us. Not important. The two lied to the Palestinians saying something about how they see Palestinians. Human beings can not live that way.

We really have a battle of republics versus dictators.

@steve203 It happened. The reconnaissance pilot was not the bomber or fighter pilot. The second pilot made the mistake. It was hurtful because Americans died. I do not know why the mistake was made.

I have to give a thumbs up to anyone supporting Talking Points Memo!

You know very well that Netanyahu is a liar, a fraud and a crook who should be in jail. He only cares about being the leader so that they can not prosecute for him fraud - just like Trump. Everything he has done has during his leadership has made Israelis less safe.

What makes you think I am defending Netanyahu? I said no matter which side. Bibi troubles a lot of us a great deal. That is my point. I never would have supported Netanyahu if I was an Israeli.

We are discussing a major pack of lies that just happened. You could have sorted through those lies and then declared you do not support them. Then you can honestly say you still have your position supporting the Palestinians but not blindly. You choose to be blind to the leadership lying.

Do you still stand by that?

I am not talking about the 8 pm aftermath video.

I am talking about the video and satellite tracing of the 7 pm rocket launch that was a misfire hitting the hospital parking lot.

This is probably true at this point. War is hell. Do not declare if from now on living peacefully with people instead.

Hamas has not allowed for a democratic republic. That is intolerable to the republics. It should be intolerable to everyone including the Arabs. It is supported by Iran, Russia, and China. No one on Earth needs to put up with those powers. The forces of Greater Syria are a no-go for Israel and the US.
