Peloton and elasticity of demand?

Seems it was only a few days ago someone posted that Peleton was adding extra charges to it’s already overpriced hardware for delivery and setup (are these fitness freaks so helpless they can’t turn a screwdriver?)

And now, BREAKING NEWS

Peloton to halt production of its Bikes, treadmills as demand wanes

Peloton plans to pause Bike production for two months, from February to March, the documents show. It already halted production of its more expensive Bike+ in December and will do so until June. It won’t manufacture its Tread treadmill machine for six weeks, beginning next month. And it doesn’t anticipate producing any Tread+ machines in fiscal 2022, according to the documents. Peloton had previously halted Tread+ production after a safety recall last year.

Seems that people aren’t half the clueless suckers the “JCs” thought they were.

So, what does the future hold for overpriced yoga pants?

<are these fitness freaks so helpless they can’t turn a screwdriver?>

Since schools discontinued skills classes many years ago (wood shop, metal working, sewing, cooking, etc.) people don’t have skills that many of us take for granted.

This is a matter of style as well as function. Good yoga pants are very comfortable (unlike much of women’s clothing). A few manufacturers are making yoga pants that look like office-style pants and have pockets but are made out of stretchy, comfortable material. These are unique and desirable. I can picture many women (and maybe men, too) who got used to being “Covid comfy” being willing to pay a premium for these when they go back to the office.
