I hear you saying that the packaging tax will make glass containers more expensive. So consumers will choose alternatives reducing glass on the beach or trail near you.
Sounds reasonable. Let’s see how it works.

I ever tell the story about what put me off of soda in glass bottles? Had a carrier of pop as I parked and made my way across the parking lot to my apartment. Slipped on the ice, fell, and a couple bottles broke. Made my way into my apartment. Put a bandaid on my hand, where it was bleeding. Went back out, and swept up the broken glass in the parking lot.
After several days, I noticed the cut on my hand was not healing. Took a closer look one morning. Noticed the corner of a chunk of glass sticking out of my hand. Grabbed a pair of tweezers, and pulled a 1/4" long piece of glass out of my hand. Then the cut healed.
Steve…never cut himself on a plastic soda bottle
Have you had one explode? There are news reports from the early days of plastic pop bottles. And kids know how to blow up mail boxes with them.
A college roomie of mine used to work for a pop distributor, 50-odd years ago. He told of a day a glass bottle exploded on him. Left quite a gash in his hand.

Except that it is easily re-used, so why bury it?
A number of colored glass containers are not reusable because the colors are no longer used. Or they contain dyes that have been prohibited or discontinued, so no longer recyclable.
Sea glass, a product of sand, sea n sun, is in demand by artists and their patrons.
Google sea glass art.
Don’t settle. Demand “natural”.
