And a breaking story provides more details on one item. Yard selection & cost details provided for FLNG Mk II
CIMC Raffles is the selected yard to work on this project. As noted in the earlier article, and repeated in the new one, Golar have an option on a second FLNG Mk II with delivery in 2028. No mention of underlying vessel for the second FLNG Mk II (but it could be there might be available candidates from retiring LNG carriers)
Interestingly, GLNG had made a determination on yard selection while FLNG Gimi was still under construction (Keppel had worked on Golar’s two prior FLNG efforts, FLNG Hilli and FLNG Gimi)
As noted, Black & Veatch has been involved with the prior FLNG vessels built for Golar LNG (GLNG). So, I think it is helpful to have them on board for Mk II. Not sure about FLNG Gimi, but Black & Veatch definitely have some “royalties” from FLNG Hilli operations. The second item that the above article covers better - the existing GLNG spend on the Mk II.
Golar’s recent bond offering probably provides an additional financing bridge. But, my guess is, when FLNG Gimi goes operational, Golar will seek to refinance the existing debt and free up capital to cover additional costs of the FLNG newbuild.
