Shipping broker report 08/02/25

Luckily this week, there was a link for Advanced Shipping & Trading on the main page. I probably would have opted for Affinity otherwise.
Familiar names this week

  • Safe Bulkers (SB) selling a 2007-built Kamsarmax for $12.5M
  • Hafnia Tankers (HAFN) selling a pair of MR2s
  • Intl Seaways (INSW) selling an MR2 tanker
  • 24 newbuild order + 5 option orders. Included in the ordering - 3 giant containerships from MSC, 2 smaller container vessels from Capital

On a separate note - I received an email from Golden Ocean (GOGL) regarding a Special General Meeting event. I guess, to make formal the process of the CMBT merger. It has already been decided, but I’m supposed to vote. For what exactly?

Seems like that was two weeks ago - I sort of glanced at the documents but really couldn’t make much sense of the proposal. I thought of selling my GOGL but then thought to myself “I never sell anything”! So I guess I’ll hang on for the ride and hope for the best. I voted in favor. There was escape clause in which if they didn’t get enough for a quorum they could adjourn and try again.

Ah! so the Belgians require more than 50% + 1 vote minimum for mergers? That makes sense. Will they pay cash for my partial share? (I have an odd lot of GOGL so it doesn’t round nicely with the exchange ratio)
