A 12-year-old boy who suffers debilitating pain because of sickle cell disease has become the first patient in the U.S. to undergo a newly approved gene therapy.
Kendric Cromer is being treated at Children’s National Hospital in D.C. By this time next year, he stands a chance at becoming the first person cured of sickle cell with gene therap.
