Smart Glasses ---> All your information

Students Created Smart Glasses That Know Who You Are, and More | NOVA | PBS

Two undergraduate students developed smart glasses that can pull personal information, like home address and phone number, from existing databases without that person even knowing it’s happening. It takes about 90 seconds for the glasses to send an image to the smartphone which then connects with Pimeyes to ID the person and then connect with databases.

There’s no doubt that governments (e.g. China) are doing this already with massive numbers of public cameras. The novelty is in the small form factor.

They used Pimeyes and Facecheck ID for facial recognition.
They used FastPeopleSearch, CheckThem, Instant Checkmate, and others to get the information.

Worthwhile to opt out of these.

That would be really valuable to a politican on the campaign trail. Imagine being able to address every voter you meet on a first name basis, and then have an appealing anecdote to relate to them based on their social media history.

This can be used for good as well as bad.

This could be really useful for people trying to meet a significant other. Imagine being able to start a conversation about a subject you already know your interlocutor is interested in.

I’ll wager that governments have been using the small form for years.

Based on recent statistics, a huge percentage of people meeting for dating purposes meet online. So they already have the capability to determine a subject the person may be interested in talking about. And nevertheless, they DON’T DO IT most of the time. It’s like getting an “F” in dating 101!

No doubt there will be a feature soon that allows you to define the type of profile you are interested in. The glasses will then ‚grey out‘ everyone else for you so you can focus on ‚worthwhile targets‘…
