Social Security workers on chopping block

As expected, DOGGie is taking aim at the Social Security
workforce. These initial claims are all over the place, have read as low as 7000 out of the 60,000 pool, and as high as
50% of the 60,000 pool of workers.

For the folks that have been deferring taking SS, does this change your thinking ??

Personally, I can see these cuts leading to delays in getting signed up for SS. Can also see delays in dealing with basically any issues that end users are having. And of course, I do not believe a word out of Trump’s mouth, so his insistence that recipients won’t be affected rings very, very hollow to me. YMMV.

The delays now are hard for me to understand. We switched banks 2 years ago. It took SS 3 months to make the switch on the direct deposit information. And I keyed all the information in myself online.

No one is incentivized to do the job well and tech outdated. Everyone is coasting and doing bare minimum.

This is changing now.

Ah, there is the problem. When I switched banks (15 yrs ago?), I talked to a woman at Social Security who took all the info and the switch happened the following month. Didn’t miss a single payment.

I started taking SS at 64, even though one might do better if waiting until 70, of course. My thinking was that some political party (one or the other) would eff it up so I figured that a “bird in the hand”… Also, I figured that paying for my Obamacare premiums with SS helped with the cash flow, and helped me keep my 401K intact and making money.

I didn’t miss any direct deposits. Luckily the bank I was switching to cautioned me about closing our accounts at the old bank until the SS direct deposits started appearing at the new account. I questioned her why it would take that long. She said that had been what other new customers had experienced.

I am thinking less people less delay. How can they really check the application with less people.

They are paid that is an incentive. New tech is not in the budget.

This does not surprise me at all. And you basically did their job for them. Typical government. And people get upset about the downsizing.

People are not upset about the downsizing. They are upset about the way it is being done.

Some people are ok with the laws getting broke when it is done for the causes they agree with. They really do not believe in the rule of law.

How does the downsizing make it better? The scale of the employment and the problem new hires probably are needed.

Neither of us know but just assuming the government workers do nothing is a projection.

Most of the private sector is worse. The government is not producing tobacco, alcohol, etc directly much of the time. Just take take take is what the private sector does.

I have a few friends in sales. Every other sentence is focused on getting higher pay.
