The military suppression needs to be ignored.

Last night NPR laid a dozy on us. China is cutting off all RRE that would be used for military purposes by any other nation.
adding we are doing the right things, but larger scale processing in the US is a few years off according to Google AI.
NOTE I think we will have full scale processing within six months. Things have to be rushed now.
No, Donald Trump has not cut funding for rare earth element (REE) processing. Instead, recent actions by his administration show a concerted effort to increase funding and investment in the domestic rare earth industry. His administration’s strategy focuses on reducing reliance on China for critical minerals, including REEs.
Key actions include:
- Executive orders: In March 2025, Trump signed an executive order invoking emergency powers to expand American production and processing of critical minerals and REEs. This was part of a larger plan to boost domestic supply chains.
- Targeted investments: The Department of Defense (DoD) has entered into significant investment deals with US rare earth companies.
- In July 2025, the DoD took a stake in MP Materials, the country’s only rare earth miner, and guaranteed a minimum price for its products to stabilize the market.
- Following this, the administration also took stakes in Trilogy Metals and Lithium Americas.
- Use of Defense Production Act: The administration has used the Defense Production Act (DPA) to accelerate financing, loans, and other support for domestic rare earth projects.
- Trade pressure: The Trump administration has taken a firm stance against China’s control over the rare earth market. It has threatened tariffs and taken other measures to counter Beijing’s export curbs on REEs, which have affected US manufacturers.
Some reports of funding cuts refer to unrelated areas:
- Clean energy funding: In early October 2025, during a government shutdown, the Trump administration reportedly cut funding for certain clean energy projects. However, these cuts were not linked to the domestic rare earth program, which the administration has designated as a national security priority.
- CHIPS Act funding: In August 2025, news emerged that the administration was considering redirecting a portion of CHIPS Act funding toward critical mineral projects. This was reported as an effort to repurpose funds to align with the critical mineral strategy, not a cut to REE funding itself.
