Suggestions for MOney Management software not subscrip†ion

Hi, have been using Banktivity Money Management Software on my Mac Desktop. Looking for another option. Can anyone offer suggestions re. simple, inexpensive product that will download expenses from my bank and/or credit cards? TIA,

Bad news - nothing is simple, inexpensive and accurate. I use Quicken Deluxe. If all you want is credit cards and a checking account that is simple and accurate. It is not inexpensive.

It is not accurate if you are dealing with either a Fidelity or a Schwab brokerage account. It misses some pretty basic brokerage transactions — like buying/selling money market funds to balance cash the is used/recieved as a result of sales/purchases/dividends. It is particularly bad with sales/redemptions/purchases of bonds. It does a good job on bond dividends.

I researched this fairly extensively a few months back. No one appears to offer a one-time purchase option like the older Quicken version. They all now require a monthly fee of one form or another. There are no worthwhile free options.

I use Quicken Simplifi. I can’t say I recommend it over all the rest but then all the others I tried (Monarch, Nerd Wallet (free), Rocket Money) were no better. PC Mag recommends Simplifi. At $3 a month, it is worth it (for now).

I’m a Quicken person. I (reluctantly) made the switch to the subscription model but I do still keep the software on my computer. I don’t use the cloud version (which I’m sure they’ll force me to do eventually).

You might want to start with what your bank allows as far as download formats and go from there.
