Tariff wall, with holes

he will announce on Monday new 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the U.S.,

he will announce reciprocal tariffs on Tuesday or Wednesday, to take effect almost immediately.

On the last go around, he imposed metals tariffs, but gave tariff free quotas to Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

The reciprocal tariffs may not give Ford the protection it wants, as neither Korea nor Japan tariffs US built cars. Nothing imported from Europe really competes in the down and dirty space Ford occupies, in spite of their pretensions. The US has had a free trade agreement with Korea, since 2016, but that didn’t stop TI from whacking Korean appliance makers on the last go around.
