Ten year note at 1.72%

It’s interesting to see how some analysts showed the 10 Year T note going to 2% because it had broken thru the 1.75% level.

Right now it is trading at 1.72%

You are still talking about tying up your cash for 10 years at <2% when inflation is currently greater than double that

The initial post was about the coming increases in short and long term interest rates CAUSED by a possible increase to 2% for the 10 Yr note.

A response to that post said that the ten yr doesn’t go below 1.75%. I was pointing out that it was currently trading at 1.72%.

10-year TIPS are trading at -0.6%, so expected average annual inflation over the 10 year period is roughly about 2.4%.

Wendy, I think that is right, no?
