If anyone has any clue of what they are doing it sure doesn’t show. So how does this go with demanding workers back into the office?
This has to do with dismantling the government entirely. RAGE : Retire All Government Employees. This is all part of the Yarvin/Thiel/P2025 playbook.
The level of idiocy and incompetence we are witnessing is yuuuuuge!
Many buildings previously identified by the GSA across the nation are on the National Register of Historic Places or have recently undergone massive renovations. The list included the headquarters of nearly every major federal agency including the Robert F. Kennedy building in Washington, which houses the Department of Justice. Occupants of some facilities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington, have waited for years for congressional approval for a suitable replacement for their headquarters.
…
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, in an internal email reported by NBC News, said it “was not aware” its headquarters in Woodlawn, Maryland, the Hubert H. Humphrey Building in downtown Washington and several of the agency’s regional offices would be included on a list of properties for possible sale.
First they demanded people to return to office only to find no power, no computers, and no internet in some of the offices and now they are trying to sell buildings without the approval or notification of the entities in those buildings.
This would be hilarious if it was some other country.
It is “some other country” 'cause it sure ain’t the USA.
(Twilight Zone music, please)
I remember when Albania first emerged from sullen communist idiocy only to collapse even further into a insane demented government pushing popular investment into pyramid schemes (a prelude to crypto currency crazes?).
It ended a few years later with mass bankruptcies of government and people, with the police and troops resigning and looting their own offices and then banks and then anything they could grab, and the UN moving in to impose order……
Playing musical buildings is SOP in Michigan.
Some years ago, a new HQ building was built, for the Michigan State Police. Custom designed, from the ground up, to suit the needs of MSP. A few years later, the (L&Ses) decided a different building (which happened to be owned by a big contributor) needed to be bought, very expensively renovated, then the MSP moved, in, while another state government department was moved into the building that had been custom designed for the MSP.
The office building used by the (L&Ses) was getting a bit worn. Discussions were held about renovating the building. Oh, but the (L&Ses) had a better idea: buy another building (which happened to be owned by a big contributor) needed to be bought, and renovated, at far higher cost than renovating the building the state already owned.
Of course, sale and lease back “deals” have been common in the private sector for years. Sell the building: use the money to pay fat bonuses to the honchos, while the company is then saddled with a huge lease expense they never had before. That sort of scheme was one of the contributors to the Red Lobster bankruptcy.
Steve…has seen this movie before.
Excellent !! Buy a bunch of 1 and 2 hole “old style” toilets, put them up all over the place, and then offer the L&S a “steal” with a “sale and leaseback” of each one at only $1-million/month. They can refurbish or knockdown and build new at their expense (of course). Then the leaseback payment paid to you becomes $5-million/month for each one. Choices, choices…
