There has been rhetoric that the ACA will be eliminated (repeal/replace). I’m reasonably confident that our ACA plan for 2025 will still be in effect, but no guarantees beyond that. We will hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
So, what affordable alternatives might there be for a retired couple of 63-64 year olds in reasonable health, with pretty good financial reserves, who have a few generic meds and a couple of routine appointments each year should the ACA go away with no adequate replacement? We’ll just need something to get us through until Medicare kicks in (mid-2027)
Yes, we are all eager to learn what will be proposed. Negotiated drug prices was on the Harris agenda. No word from Trump. But he must be looking for ways to reduce costs to help fund tax cuts.
Plan to permanently move to another country WITH competent healthcare–because you won’t be able to afford it in the US. Expect the number of doctors in the US to fall dramatically over the next four years–with ZERO REPLACEMENTS IN THE PIPELINE due to massive Medicare cuts (which pays for doctor internships in hospitals nationwide).
