Totally OT: Octopus Vaudeville, pure silliness

Things are just too darn serious so I have been working on my Octopus Vaudeville.

Each is based on an actual octopus species.

“Under Paris Skies,” Mimic octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus)

“Stormy Weather - Torch Song,” Blanket octopus (Tremoctopus violaceus)

“Dapper Dandy Dancer” - Blue lined octopus (Hapalochalaena fasciata)

Great paintings. But I do have a favorite.

Have you had your cataract surgery yet?

@AlphaWolf thank you!

I had my cataract surgery in May. I got plain-vanilla lenses (paid for by Medicare) instead of the fancy new-style lenses ($6,000 per pair) because I have prism (uneven eye muscles) that inner-eye lenses can’t correct. So I would need glasses anyway.

Fixing cataracts is a step-wise process with checkups at intervals. I will be picking up my new prescription glasses today. I’m getting progressive lenses plus an extra pair for the car that is for distance only.

I’m glad I got the surgery. It’s painless and the colors are bright again.

For me, the surgery was mind-boggling. Sky blues, greens, violets! I forgot what white looked like.

However, I do have a bone to pick with you.

Where are the octopuses doing Zumba?

What a GREAT idea!
My next character is a Wonderpus photogenicus (yes, that’s actually the species name - it’s totally wild and cool) as a rock’n’roll drummer playing a keyboard at the same time.
I haven’t figured out what act the Argonaut octopus should do but it’s also cool - maybe Athena with a spear? Vaudevilles sometimes had classical-inspired acts.
What species should do Zumba? I always start with the species, then build the act around it. The stripes of the Mimic octopus inspired the French theme.

maybe some dancing the ultimate Mexican (and Californian — I learned to dance it in grammar schooll) rooster dance, variously called Huapango, Tapatio, and etc…

@flyerboys find me an octopus species that works with the concept and I’ll paint it for you - cowboy hat and boots!

You said you learned Venezuelan Joropo. Venezuelan Zumba based on Joropo. Amarillo, azul y rojo son los colores pátrios.
