People have asked what I was doing about TTD. It’s hard for me to see how anyone could read the Conference Call prepared remarks and Q&A and sell out of TTD at this point. I would have added more if it wasn’t already over a 10% position (and if I had the cash available). But that’s just the way I see it, and I make mistakes, so make your own decisions.

To back up what I just said I see that all six analysts who have weighed in today have seen it the same way I did, and raised their target prices:
- Trade Desk Inc : D.A.Davidson raises target price to $220 from $190
- Trade Desk Inc : Instinet raises price target to $144 from $114
- Trade Desk Inc : Jefferies raises target price to $225 from $200
- Trade Desk Inc : RBC raises price target to $220 from $195
- Trade Desk Inc : Stifel raises price target to $190 from $165
- Trade Desk Inc : SunTrust Robinson raises target price to $206 from $195

That was my struggle all night and this morning. I sold this . It may be a mistake, and if so, I will learn. I was quite impressed by the conference call transcript. They said all the right things. But I couldn’t get around the 20% drop in YOY Q1 revenue growth, despite that it was projected to be lower. 20% just seemed too much. The other was the disconnect I had or felt with Roku doing so well, and would suspect TTD should also given the CTV angle. Perhaps I will realize my mistake in the near future, and buy back in. I think in the very long run, TTD will be fine.
I used the funds from TTD to get into MDB and some Roku.

I agree with Saul and doubled down today.
An increase in annual guidance seems to me the height of confidence from companies which typically try to undersell and over-deliver.

Here’s an Adweek article that gives a little more color from Jeff Green about the quarter and the overall business.

I appreciate the insight on Jeff greens shares he owns, that the 93K was his class A. Knowing he owns so much class B I don’t at all blame him for selling an 1/8th and getting paid for running a successful company.
I certainly learned the hard way in buying in before the earnings call. I do still believe in this company and loved listening to the earnings call so I also bought a few more shares after the drop. Unfortunately with buying in more at higher levels I’m only at a 10% gain now, when I was up nearly 40% before the earnings call. I definitely got too far ahead of myself but I hope I’m the mid term it will all even out again to some good gains.

If I was forced to make some sort of bet, I would’ve done the same. ROKU blew it out. I would’ve expected the same from TTD. Don’t feel bad…but still a lesson learned. ROKU and TTD are closely tied, so the truth is somewhere in between. ROKU went up like 28%, TTD down about 20%. The average comes out slightly positive.

I’m underwater on this. It’s part of the “game” Don’t pin your hopes on just one stock. Spread them out, and not just in one sector.

I honestly am probably too spread out. As a member of everlasting portfolio, rising stars, market pass, stock advisor, rule breakers and blast off I am in too many companies. I don’t know weather to trim my larger holdings that are likely overvalued or completely sell out of my underperforming companies that are probably undervalued. TMF says to never sell but I want to have some in cash in case the market continues to fall as it has all month
