Elon Musk’s X is in talks to raise money from investors at a valuation of at least $44 billion. The money will be spent on initiatives such as payments and video products, and will help pay down some of the social media company’s huge debt load, according to people familiar with the matter.

If completed, the funding would indicate a remarkable turn of fortunes for X after Musk’s takeover and overhaul caused many users and advertisers to flee. A valuation of $44 billion would match the price Musk paid for the social network more than two years ago, when it was called Twitter.

Talks for the new X financing round are still ongoing and the details could change, according to people with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified discussing private information. At least some of the cash raised would be used to reduce the company’s debt, one of the people said. The company is meanwhile investing in allowing its users to make payments via the site, as well as video and original content…

Sold “as-is, where-is”. CASH ONLY !!

A deal was struck at a $32 Billion equity valuation, so Musk is still 25% underwater on the $44 Billion Twitter purchase price.

{{ The deal values X’s equity at roughly $32 billion. The Twitter buyout included at least $12.5 billion in debt, meaning the latest fundraising was completed at roughly the same $44 billion enterprise value as Musk’s initial purchase. }}
