“While the United States previously imposed sanctions on [People’s Republic of China] entities providing critical inputs to Russia’s military-industrial base, these are the first U.S. sanctions imposed on PRC entities directly developing and producing complete weapons systems in partnership with Russian firms,” said State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

On Thursday, China’s foreign ministry revealed that it had imposed sanctions on Edge Autonomy Operations LLC, Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc., and Skydio Inc. These US firms are connected to the defense industry and are involved in supplying military equipment and technology. The sanctions are aimed at punishing these US firms for their roles in facilitating U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.
As part of the sanctions, any properties belonging to these US firms and the ten senior executives in China will be frozen. This means that these individuals and companies will not be able to access or control their assets within Chinese territory. This action is a significant step for China and sends a clear message that it does not tolerate foreign interference in what it considers its internal affairs.
Chinese sanctions on Skydio, the U.S.’s largest drone maker and a supplier to Ukraine’s military, have blocked the American company’s sole battery supplier, reports The Financial Times.
“China’s sanctions, imposed on October 11, hit several U.S. groups, including privately held Skydio, in retaliation for Washington’s approval of the sale of attack drones to Taiwan,” FT said on Wednesday. Skydio is now “rushing to find alternative suppliers.”
