We noticed this as we had been dropped into a similar plan on our new RAV4, but went back the next morning and canceled it, feeling we can handle whatever comes along, post-warranty, as we have with all our prior vehicles. Sales person was great, but the Finance guy was the one to keep an eye on… Long day, rushed a bit, just wanted to get out of there, so OK’d stuff without really reading… And naturally, the Financial guy has done this for years, saw his chance, a tablet all set where all you have to do is click, click, click… A tender trap… Only one service, at 6 months, so far, no problems… But the article did remind us…
I remember in years past where I supported my Independent mechanic’s work, did not care for the Dealer’s work, attitude, and I’d get feedback from a dealers agent, I think, different perspective, likely how they made their living, but we all have to be careful, aware of the options… My mechanic retired, so a new Independent guy now, not sure he’s up to Hybrids as far as deep dives, or the electronics involved, but post warranty, likely fine for normal maintenance… RAV4 Hybrids are definitely higher tech than he may have seen, haven’t discussed it yet…
